Folder & Category Management

The Pop Document Center provides powerful content organization capabilities, allowing you to efficiently manage documents, notes, drawings, and mind maps.
This chapter introduces folder structures, favorites, search filters, and more—helping you build a long‑term maintainable knowledge system.

📂 1. Folders

Folders are the core organizational structure in Pop, used to store all types of files.

1.1 Supported Capabilities

Current folder features include:

  • Multi-level nested folders
Create any structure you need, such as:

  • Drag to move files
Files can be dragged into any folder for reclassification.

  • Drag to reorder folders
Freely change the display order of folders.

  • Rename folders
Click the name to edit instantly.

  • Collapse / Expand folders
Keep your list clear when handling deep hierarchies.

  • File count indicator

⭐ 2. Favorites

Favorites provide quick access to your most frequently used items.

2.1 Features

  • One‑click add/remove favorite (⭐ icon)
  • Does not affect the file’s original location
  • Filter favorites by type (document / note / mind map / drawing)
  • Sort by recently opened or recently modified

2.2 Usage Examples

  • Add ongoing notes to favorites for quick continuation
  • Keep important project materials within reach
  • Temporarily favorite files needed during meetings

Favorites are ideal for a “temporary workspace.”

🔍 3. Tag System (Tags)

The tag system is not fully available yet, but the foundation is already designed and will be expanded later.

3.1 Planned Tag Features

  • Add one or more tags to any file
  • Tag colors (e.g., red for important items)
  • Centralized tag management panel
  • Tag‑based filtering across folders
  • AI‑recommended tags

🗂 4. Search & Filtering

Pop integrates folders deeply with the search system, giving you strong discovery capabilities.

4.1 Searchable Content

  • File names (fuzzy search)
  • Full document content (PDF, notes, rich text)
  • Folder names
  • Highlights and annotations

4.2 Filter Options

  • File type (document / note / drawing / mind map)
  • Modify date (today, last 7 days, last 30 days)
  • Favorite status
  • Folder location
  • Tags (future)

4.3 Sorting Options

  • Recently opened
  • Recently modified
  • File name

Search and filtering help you quickly locate files within large collections.

♻️ 5. Recycle Bin

The recycle bin prevents accidental data loss.

5.1 Current Mechanism

  • Deleted files move to the recycle bin
  • Files remain for a fixed time (e.g., 30 days)
  • Files can be restored
  • Manual emptying (planned)

This mechanism improves data safety and reduces risks from mistakes.

🧭 6. File Context Menu

Each file supports a right‑click menu with:

  • Open file
  • Rename
  • Move to folder
  • Add to favorites
  • Delete (moves to recycle bin)
  • Copy file info (future)

📝 7. Best Practices

To maintain a clean, scalable knowledge structure:

  • Combine folders + tags for systematic management
  • Do a weekly “content tidy-up”
  • Archive unused items into yearly folders
  • Store important files in Favorites
  • Split long documents into smaller categorized notes

A well‑structured folder and category system forms the foundation of your Pop knowledge base.
With thoughtful organization, you can create a sustainable and scalable personal knowledge system.
