1.5 First Launch & Basic Setup

When you open Pop for the first time, it will guide you through an initial environment setup.
This chapter will help you complete the most important first-time configurations so Pop can run smoothly and provide its full capabilities.

🚀 1. Overview of Pop’s First Launch Process

During the first startup, you will go through the following steps:

  1. Select language
  2. Select theme (Light / Dark / Follow System)
  3. Set data storage location
  4. (Optional) Configure default AI models
  5. Enter the Pop main interface

💡 All these settings can be changed later in System Settings, so don’t worry about choosing incorrectly.

🌐 2. Language Selection

Pop supports multiple languages, including:

  • Simplified Chinese
  • Traditional Chinese
  • English
  • Korean
  • Japanese

Language affects:

  • UI labels
  • Sidebar navigation
  • Default prompt templates (for certain features)

📌 Recommendation: Chinese provides the best experience for knowledge management features; developers may prefer English.

🎨 3. Theme Settings (Light / Dark / Auto)

Pop offers three theme modes:

Theme Mode Description Suitable Scenarios
🌞 Light Mode High contrast, ideal for daytime Daily work, document reading
🌙 Dark Mode Eye-friendly, reduces light fatigue Night work, coding
🌓 Auto Mode Follows system settings Users who prefer system-wide consistency

🤖 4. (Optional) Initial AI Model Setup

You may choose to:

  • Skip for now and configure later
  • Click “Start Setup” to add models immediately

New users are encouraged to configure at least one AI model early, so that:

  • Document Q&A works
  • The Copilot panel functions properly
  • AI nodes in workflows can run normally

Common model providers:

Provider Example Models Notes
OpenAI gpt-4o, gpt-4o-mini High quality, very stable
DeepSeek deepseek-chat, deepseek-reasoner Excellent Chinese ability, cheap
Self-hosted API Any OpenAI-compatible model Flexible; suitable for private setups

🧩 5. Recommended First Actions (Must-Do for Beginners)

To fully experience Pop’s capabilities, we suggest trying the following in order:

  1. Import a PDF document (next chapter will guide you)
  2. Use AI Copilot to summarize the document
  3. Create a Knowledge Base and import several materials
  4. Build your first workflow
  5. Run existing sample Apps to get familiar with the Layout Builder
