1.7 Import Your First Document

The Document Center is one of the modules you will use most frequently in Pop.
This chapter will guide you through importing your first document and performing basic operations.


📁 1. Supported Document Formats

Pop supports the following major formats:

Type Supported Formats
Documents PDF, Word (doc/docx), TXT
Spreadsheets Excel (xls/xlsx)
Presentations PowerPoint (ppt/pptx)
Rich Text Markdown
Images jpg, png, webp, svg, etc.

💡 If a file is too large (>200MB), consider compressing it first to improve loading speed.


📥 2. Ways to Import Documents

Pop provides three import methods:

① Drag & Drop (Recommended)

  • Drag the file directly into the Pop main interface
  • The file will automatically be copied into Pop’s data directory

② Click “Import” in the Document Center

Path:
Document Center → Import Document

Supports selecting multiple files at once.

③ Open from Finder / File Manager via Right‑Click

macOS:

Right‑click → Open With → Pop

Windows:

Right‑click → Open With → Pop.exe

🔍 3. Document Reader Basics

After the import is complete, you will see Pop's Document Reader:

Text Search Full‑text search with highlighted results
Text Copy Copy paragraphs for AI questions
Zoom Supports multi‑level zooming
Page Jump Jump directly by entering a page number
Highlight & Notes Mark important content (coming soon)

🤖 4. Use AI to Read Documents (Highly Recommended to Try)

On the right side of the document, you will see the AI Copilot panel. Try:

Summarize the content of this page.

or:

Explain what main topics this document covers.

If AI responds properly, it means your model configuration is working.


🧩 5. Relationship Between Documents and Knowledge Bases

📚 Document Center: For reading
🧠 Knowledge Base: For AI retrieval and Q&A

You can add any document to a knowledge base at any time:

  1. Click “Add to Knowledge Base” on the top-right of the document
  2. Choose a knowledge base or create a new one
  3. Pop will automatically segment the document and build indexes
